Sinemet
Sinemet is an effective drug that is prescribed against tremor and muscle stiffness caused by Parkinson’s disease.
Sinemet is an antidyskinetic combination drug, which acts on the brain and gives relief to the symptoms.
An oral drug, Sinemet should be taken in empty stomach, either 2 hours before or 2 hours after meals. As the drug is a slow releasing tablet, the drug should only be swallowed and not chewed, crushed or broken.
The drug should be taken on a regular basis and take care not to miss any dose of Sinemet. In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as you realize it. But never take two dose of Sinemet together.
Always discuss about all your health issues before the doctor prescribes Sinement. You should always inform your doctor if you have any hear related problems, blood problems, liver or kidney diseases, hormone problems, glaucoma or intestinal bleeding.
While you are on Sinemet medication, it is better not to get pregnant, as it can be risky to your unborn babe. Though Sinemet is not traced in breast milk, it is better not to feed the new born without consulting your doctor when you are taking the drug.
Elderly people should take Sinemet with caution. The drug is not given for children.
After taking Sinemet, it is better no to drive or perform any hard task, as the drug is known to cause dizziness. One should also give up alcohol while taking Sinemet as mixing the two only increases the risk of side effects.
